Cardinals have RB by committee
Posted by on October 10, 2012 – 2:38 amThe Arizona Cardinals have not had success running the ball this season and that’s when they still had Beanie Wells and Ryan Williams. Now with a committee approach likely to ensue in the absence of both their top backs due to injury, it begs the question of what the Bills will see Sunday.
It’s believed that William Powell is likely to get the lion’s share of the work with Alfonso Smith and LaRod Stephens-Howling rotating in.
The interesting stat to come out of last Thursday night’s game for the Cards is after Williams left the game with his season-ending shoulder injury Arizona ran 15 more offensive plays. Down 17-3 they passed on every play.
The main impetus was likely due more to the deficit on the scoreboard than anything else, but it will bear watching how they’ll balance what has been a struggling run game and inconsistent pass protection.
