Tonight’s Thursday night game against the Miami Dolphins isn’t the only Miami v. Buffalo competition happening this week. The NFL Play 60 ConorsChoose.org Showdown is putting one school from each city in a voting showdown for a good cause.
Buffalo’s West Hertel Academy is in the running for funding from the NFL’s Play 60 initiative that will go towards much needed school supplies.
“My students are refugees from around the world,” said West Hertel teacher Mrs. Kormash-Gallaher on nflrush.com. “They come from 24 countries and speak 28 different languages and have come here for a better life. They come to school with very little and don’t have the resources to buy basic school supplies. That is why I am seeking to provide them with pencil boxes filled with scissors, glue, crayons, and other supplies students need to learn. With these supplies, my students will feel more secure at school and ready to succeed.”
West Hertel is competing with Miami’s Beachside Montessori Vlg School. The winning school will receive full funding for a project of their choice that improves the health and fitness of their students, and the losing school will still receive a prize worth 50% of the funding needed for their desired project.
Voting closes tonight at midnight and you may vote one time each hour, so head to
now to help West Hertel Academy win!
