It’s been a rough ten games for the Buffalo Bills defense, a rocky road reflected in the team’s 4-6 record. But veteran linebacker Bryan Scott says the best is yet to come.
In an appearance on The John Murphy Show Wednesday night, Scott said the Bills defense has regained its footing after a rough start to the year and his ready to move forward.
After the Bills win over Miami last week, several Bills players said they felt the Buffalo defense finally lived up to the expectations from the start of the year. Scott told John Murphy he can’t figure out what took the defense so long to get going.
“I cannot tell you why it took ten games,” Scott said. “If you had told me before the season, it would take you guys ten games to come together and play at a high level, I would have said no way.”
“There was just a lack of consistency. We would stop teams four out of five times and that fifth time, we let them out of the gate.”
But the 10-year veteran says there are brighter days ahead for the Buffalo defense, and there’s still time left to fix the defense.
“The season is not a sprint, it’s a marathon. I think we’re jelling and peaking at the right time,” Scott said.
Host John Murphy asked Scott if he was curious to see how the Bills defense followed up its’ solid performance in Miami, this Sunday in Indianapolis.
“Curious? No. Excited? Definitely,” Scott said. “You’re never where you need to be, you can always get better. But I definitely feel in my heart of hearts that we know we’re on the right path.”
The John Murphy Show airs weeknights from 7-9pm on the flagship staton of the Buffalo Bills, WGR Sports Radio 550.
