Bills FS Jairus Byrd is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent after this season, but Buffalo’s front office is reportedly already making sure he never makes it to the free agent market.
According to ESPN.com, preliminary contract negotiations are already underway between the Bills and Byrd. When asked by Buffalobills.com about contract negotiations, the free safety deferred to his representatives.
“I really just let my agent handle all of that and let him focus on it,” Byrd told Buffalobills.com.
Bills GM Buddy Nix has said all along that Byrd is one of their impending free agents that they want to return to the fold for the long term future.
Byrd leads the team in interceptions, forced fumbles and is tied for the team lead in fumble recoveries. He’s also second on the team in tackles.
