THIS DAY IN BILLS HISTORY
December 18, 1962 — GILCHRIST NAMED AFL PLAYER OF THE YEAR
The Associated Press named Bills fullback Cookie Gilchrist as AFL “Player of the Year.” Guard Billy Shaw and tackle Harold Olson made the AP AFL All-Star first team.
QUOTE OF THE DAY
RB C.J. Spiller
Q: How does the 1,000-yard threshold feel?
A: It would feel better if we would have got the win (Sunday). To be honest, it has not even really sunk in that I had done it. It probably will not do that till after the season. I have to credit the offensive line for the way those guys have been blocking all year long and the guys that have been blocking downfield. So I just want to take my hat off to those guys and thank them for their hard work and their dedication for what they have done throughout the season so far.
PHOTO OF THE DAY
QB Ryan Fitzpatrick now stands in sole possession of third-place in team history with 78 touchdown passes – breaking a tie with former Bills QB Jack Kemp. He is also the second QB in team history with 20+ TD passes in three consecutive seasons, joining Jim Kelly. Fitzpatrick has also connected with WR Stevie Johnson on 23 touchdowns, tying the duo with Joe Ferguson and Frank Lewis for third-most in Bills history.
