He just signed a multi-year contract extension with the Bills. And guard Kraig Urbik says he wants to stick around for awhile, expecting a bright future with the franchise.
Urbik was a guest Tuesday night on The John Murphy Show. And he says he wants to be part of a core group of young players who turn around the Bills.
“You see the guys that we have, we’re obviously disappointed with our record this year,” Urbik told John Murphy. “We know that we’re a few plays away from a decent record, a much improved record. But we are what we are. And we know that we’re a losing team right now, but the pieces are in place and the guys are in place to be a really, really good team.”
Urbik could have put off a decision on re-signing and waited until free agency begins in the spring. But he says after thinking it over, he knew he wanted to stay with the Bills in Buffalo.
“There was definitely some thought that goes into it,” he said. “I really like the offer and the opportunity to stay here, so we pounced on that, and I’m really excited about it.”
“I love it here, I love the fans, I love the team. I know what this team is capable of, and I want to be around when it turns around.”
Urbik was asked if the new contract extension, and the guaranteed money that goes with it, will mean a Merry Christmas for his family.
“We actually don’t even have a tree yet, we need to go out and get a tree, and get on that,” he said.
The John Murphy Show airs weeknights from 7-9pm on the flagship station of the Bills, WGR Sports Radio 550.
