Dolphins RB Daniel Thomas landed on injured reserve this week with a knee injury. Miami head coach Joe Philbin outlined how they intend to replace the short yardage power back Sunday against the Bills.
“We’re going to have to be specific in our plan and the big things is repping the guys that you at least anticipate, to the best of your knowledge, are going to be in those situations during the course of the week of practice,” Philbin said. “So we need to do a good job. We need to be smart about that and make sure we’re asking guys to do things that they’re capable of doing. To answer your question, we’re going to have to look into, there may be more than one guy to do that.”
Rookie RB Lamar Miller and FB Jorvorskie Lane figure to handle most of Thomas’ duties Sunday.
Thomas was the back Philbin turned to in the first meeting when Reggie Bush was rendered ineffective by Buffalo’s run front in the first meeting between the two clubs, but Thomas was not any more effective. He has 12 carries for just 33 yards.
Bush had 10 for 20.
