It’s been twenty years since the game most Bills fans consider the greatest victory in franchise history.
Two decades since the Bills spotted the Houston Oilers a 32-point lead in the third quarter, and then bounced back to win.
It was the AFC Wild Card Game on January 3rd, 1993. It was twenty years ago today.
Tonight, on The John Murphy Show, we’ll celebrate the anniversary of the greatest comeback in NFL history with radio highlights from the game and interviews with some of the principals.
The twenty year old highlights feature Houston’s four first half touchdown and then the interception return for a touchdown three plays into the second half, the score that put the Oilers up 35-3.
Then the Bills reeled off five touchdowns in a row to go up 38-35. We’ve got Van Miller’s play call of all of the scoring, including Houston’s game-tieing field goal late in the fourth quarter. And then, of course, Steve Christie’s game winning field goal three minutes into overtime.
We’ll talk live with the Voice of the Bills, Van Miller, and one of his color analysts on the broadcast that day, Marc Stout. Marc is still in radio, working in Denver, Colorado.
Linebacker Darryl Talley, who played a prominent role in the Buffalo victory, will join us live on the air at 7:20pm
And then at 8pm, the man who engineered the comeback, Quarterback Frank Reich, will be on the air with us to re-live his greatest day as a pro.
We’ll also be opening up the phone lines to get fans memories of what might be the greatest day in franchise history.
The John Murphy Show airs weeknights from 7-9pm on the flagship station of the Bills, WGR Sports Radio 550.
