He was supposed to play at Oklahoma this fall, but junior college WR Courtney Gardner is now headed to the NFL.
The 6’3″ 220-pound receiver just finished his junior college career at Sierra College. He was to play for the Sooners in the fall, but academic issues forced him to declare for the NFL draft. According to the DraftInsiders Tony Pauline, his name is generating a lot of buzz in scouting circles.
Blessed with a big frame and speed to match (10.7 seconds in the 100) scouts are reviewing Sierra College tape to better assess his physical skills. More importantly they’ll be trying to get a better sense on his character background knowing his academics were an issue.
Most draft prognosticators have not even projected where Gardner might go in this year’s draft pool.
