Bills head coach Doug Marrone was described as a disciplinarian and a player’s coach in the same breath by his former college quarterback Ryan Nassib. When asked if that’s possible Nassib’s Orange teammate OT Justin Pugh agreed.
“I think being a head coach you kind of have to wear a different mask from being a position coach,” said Pugh. “So when he was the offensive line coach for the Saints and the Jets back in the day – he’d probably get mad at me for saying that – he kind of wore different hats … But when you become head coach, you have to have that stern, disciplinary mold to you, because you can’t have guys running all over the program.
“So when he would be the head coach, he’d be that stern guy. But when you got with him in the meeting rooms, he was talking more about technique and stuff … he was a great guy. Coach Marrone, I love him as a coach and looking forward to seeing his success with the Bills.”
Pugh is seen as an offensive tackle by some and a guard by others. He’s been forecast as a day two pick.
