Chris Kelsay spent the last ten years in the NFL. And now that he’s announced his retirement, the longtime Bills DE is looking forward to spending the next several years with his family.
Kelsay was a guest Wednesday night on The John Murphy Show, moments after announcing the end of his career. At age 33, Kelsay is ready to move on with his life and spend more time with his family.
“I’m going to take at least a year off,” he said, ” just to enjoy some time with my wife and my three kids. We’ve got a seven year old, a four year old, and a two year old now.”
” You miss a lot of family time when you play in this league, and you’re gone a lot, whether it’s in the offseason for workouts travelling back and forth, or during the season on road trips. I’m just going to take some time to enjoy them and be more involved in what they’re doing. We’ll just see what the Lord has in place for me.”
Kelsay and his wife, Natalie have two daughters, Harper and Avery, and one son, Rhett. And along with spending time with his family, he says he’ll explore business opportunities outside of football.
“I always said it would be hard to picture myself not playing football,” he told host John Murphy, “but I am excited about the next chapter of my life. There’s going to be opportunities there. There’s a couple of interests I want to explore. But right now, I’m just kinda going to relax. I’ll continue to work out-I’m a gym rat, I like to work out a lot. That will never change. But for the most part, I’ll just enjoy some family time.”
