First, it was ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Now NFL Network’s Ian Rapaport is reporting that the Arizona Cardinals are doing their due diligence on Kansas City QB Matt Cassel, knowing it’s likely he’ll be moved out with the pending trade of Alex Smith from the 49ers to the Chiefs.
Appearing on NFL Network’s Total Access, Rapoport said Arizona is interested in bringing Cassel in and pairing him with Kevin Kolb in what would be a quarterback competition. He also mentioned the Minnesota Vikings as a possible landing spot for Cassel as the Vikings are reportedly looking for someone to push Christian Ponder.
Cassel has just an average arm and doesn’t appear to be a good fit for Bruce Arians offense in Arizona. He also has been a turnover machine with 30 in his last 18 games.
