Today on Buffalobills.com we profiled the free agent options at tight end for the Bills knowing Scott Chandler’s ACL injury will make him anything but a sure thing for training camp and the start of the regular season. One of the options we chose as a possible fit for the Bills is expected to hit the market.
It’s not looking like Oakland TE Brandon Myers will be re-signed by the Raiders despite a breakout season last year when he logged 79 catches for over 800 receiving yards and four touchdowns. That according to the Bay Area News Group.
“Obviously, I’d like to stay,” Myers told the Bay Area News Group. “I’ve got a lot of friendships and know the coaches really well. They took a chance on me when I got drafted. I’d like to be there but it’s not looking like that right now. I guess I just have to stay patient and figure some stuff out. We’re pretty confident I’ll have ajob here in a couple of weeks, but I’ll just try to sti back and not stress about it.”
Myers said after his agent had a conversation with the Raiders at the NFL Combine they got the sense that a contract offer would not be made to them by Oakland. The Raiders don’t have a lot of talent at the tight end position, so it’s presumed if they don’t re-sign Myers they’ll likely look to the draft to re-stock the position.
