One month from the NFL draft, the Buffalo Bills decision on a quarterback continues to be the number one issue for the team.
A top analyst from NFL Films says as far as he’s concerned, Syracuse QB Ryan Nassib is the number one quarterback in the draft.
Greg Cosell, a Senior Producer for NFL Films for more than 30-years, says Nassib has what it takes to be the top quarterback taken off the board on April 25th. And he compares him to Pro Bowl QB Drew Brees of the New Orleans Saints, at similar points in their development.
“Nassib, the more I watch him, the more I like him,” Cosell said Monday Night, in an appearance on The John Murphy Show. “He’s not a top arm talent, he doesn’t have a gun. But I made a note to myself—I saw elements of a young Drew Brees. And when I say a young Drew Brees, I mean with San Diego, when he was sort of developing his career. I think Nassib has some of those same physical traits with his ball location, his anticipation. And we’ll see where that goes.”
” To me, he’s the top guy in a draft where there are no guaranteed quarterbacks.”
Cosell says based on his film study, Nassib’s arm strength is adequate. But it’s his ability to put the ball exactly where he wants to, that sets him apart.
“I think you have to be able to throw the ball with great ball location.,” Cosell says. “I think you have to be able to move around in the pocket-pocket mobility. I think you have to throw the ball with great anticipation.”
“Accuracy and ball location are consistent positives with Nassib,” Cosell told host John Murphy. ” He does not miss routine throws.”
