When he was at Florida State, Bills first round draft pick EJ Manuel won four bowl games. And in 31-starts for the Seminoles, he won 25 and lost only six.
Obviously, Manuel has done more than his share of winning at FSU. And one of the reasons, according to his college coach, is that Manuel can beat you in a variety of ways.
“EJ can do three things,” Seminoles Coach Jimbo Fisher said Friday night, in an appearance on The John Murphy Show.
“I always look at our quarterbacks and ask, can they do three things,” he said. “One—can they beat you from the pocket, which EJ can do. He can sit there and throw the ball very well. He’s the second leading career percentage leader in ACC history—number one at Florida State.”
“Two–can he beat you with his legs and extend plays and create plays? And three, can he beat you with his mind?”
Fisher told host John Murphy EJ Manuel gets high marks in all three areas.
“He can beat you with his legs by doing the read-option thing. He can create plays. He can beat you mentally by making good decisions. And then he can beat you with his arm, by sitting in the pocket and making throws.”
