A quarterback drafted in the first round. Typically, that guy becomes the marquee player for an NFL team.
And Buffalo’s first round quarterback, EJ Manuel, has the right stuff to be “the face of the organization,” according to his college coach.
Florida State Coach Jimbo Fisher was a guest Friday night on The John Murphy Show and he talked about his former quarterback, EJ Manuel.
“He is the ultimate face of an organization, and a classy young man,” Fisher said. “He understands his role as a quarterback.”
Host John Murphy asked Fisher to explain exactly what me means by “the face of the organization” and how Manuel handled that role at FSU.
“The first thing you got to have is presence,” Fisher said. “When he walks in the room he has presence. He’s very confident in his ability and he way he carries himself. He’s not arrogant. He’s confident. He doesn’t rub people the wrong way. He makes you feel very confident around him. I think just his overall intelligence level and understanding of the game. And his appreciation of being the quarterback and understanding his role in that way.”
