CBS Sports NFL columnist Clark Judge sought the input of an unnamed offensive coordinator to assess which rookie quarterback drafted last week has the greatest chance for success in the NFL. At the top of the list was EJ Manuel.
According to the OC Manuel has a lot working in his favor that could lead to both early and long term success.
“They’re going to get the ball out of his hands really fast,” the offensive coordinator said. “And I think they’re going to use the read-option much like Seattle did with [Russell] Wilson.”
I’m not sure I agree with the read-option opinion based on what Coach Marrone said after the draft, though it could be sprinkled into Nathaniel Hackett’s offense. That’s the luxury the Bills would have with Manuel on the field. He has the physical skill set to run just about anything.
