Bills head coach Doug Marrone did speak with Jim Kelly at his golf tournament gala Sunday night and was made aware of his condition. He commented on Kelly’s situation while making his first visit to the St. John Fisher campus in Pittsford in preparation for training camp.
“Cancer in whatever form it may be really affects all of us in some way,” said Marrone. “We can all reach out and we can all feel it. I saw Jim Sunday night and he was in good spirits and the people around him were very supportive. I think for myself and the organization obviously our prayers go out to Jim and his family and everyone who is touched by this disease.
“It’s tough. I just went through it, my wife and family with someone, a young girl. To hear it happen to Jim, it just makes you think and makes you realize. You just do the best you can with your prayers and wish his family the best and for a speedy recovery.”
