With the offseason conditioning program coming to a close along with mandatory minicamp, there were awards handed out to the top weight lifters this spring.
One award was given to the top performer on offense and one on defense. The top performer on offense was Fred Jackson and Bryan Scott on defense. Jackson, who was given his award in the locker room ran out to hand Scott his award in the Bills Fieldhouse where he was just finishing up an interview.
“I think they gave it to the two oldest guys on the team, to make us feel good,” joked Scott.
Still, it was obvious that the award carried a measure of significance for Scott.
“It means a lot. It means a lot,” Scott told Buffalobills.com. “The lifter of the year means the guy who came in with the most energy. Motivating not just himself but others around him. Made it better to come to work every day. It’s a huge honor when the coaches see that and they vote you in, it’s big.”
Jackson has said from the outset of the offseason conditioning program that he wanted to be the top finisher, which he obviously accomplished.
