The release of TE Mickey Shuler has created another open roster spot.
Buffalo’s roster now stands at 87, leaving three vacancies for the camp roster. But as we reported yesterday GM Doug Whaley and head coach Doug Marrone have no intention to immediately fill out those vacancies.
Whaley said that they’d prefer to have openings to be used in the event of a rash of injuries at a position or if a player they’re interested in is suddenly released by another club.
The release of Shuler was likely linked to the health of TE Lee Smith. Buffalo signed Shuler not long after Smith was lost to a weight room injury in the spring practices. Now that he’s healthy and ready to go for training camp Shuler became the odd man out.
