While Doug Marrone has made it clear that the quarterback competition will be a fair one when it comes to dividing reps in camp practices, GM Doug Whaley was asked about the potential of EJ Manuel as a franchise caliber quarterback.
“Well, I tell everybody teams that consistently compete have a franchise quarterback and we think EJ can be that franchise quarterback and we’re excited,” said Whaley. “We’re excited to see him grow and we’re excited to see him compete with Kevin Kolb and the best man win.”
The message from Marrone concerning how he’ll make his choice is he will go with the quarterback that proves he’s the best answer to helping the team win games right now.
