Indianapolis OLB Robert Mathis had no excuse for why the Bills came out and ran the ball well early with C.J. Spiller and ultimately outplayed the Colts in a 44-20 preseason Week 1 victory.
Mathis admitted that the Bills played with a greater sense of purpose than the Colts.
“They came out with I’d say, more of a sense of urgency than we did today, so it’s just something we have to work on,” said Mathis. “We just have to do what we do better, more so than what they do. That’s kind of what the preseason is all about, working on our timing and how we adjust on the fly.”
