C.J. Spiller had a tough Week 1 outing averaging just 2.4 yards per carry against the Patriots. In addition to admitting that he fell back into some bad habits that plagued him in his rookie season, Spiller said he let the fumble he committed on his second carry of the game bother him too much.
“It did make me frustrated,” said Spiller of his fumble. “Anytime you put the ball on the ground and you put your defense in a bad situation like that it definitely frustrates you. I think I kind of let it linger on too much than what I should have instead of putting that bad play behind me. I let it linger on too much. It is what it is, we came up short. We’ve got another one.”
Spiller felt he had a great day of practice Wednesday and successfully corrected a lot of what he described as impatient running last Sunday.
“I wasn’t trying to prove anything, but just try to make too many plays where I was forcing it,” said Spiller. “Instead of waiting for that big play to come I was looking for that big play each time and it hurt us and it hurt me. Now I know. I’ve put it behind me and I’ll start taking what they give me.”
