There were a few times that EJ Manuel had to run over to the sidelines between plays. A few times, backup QB Jeff Tuel was using hand signals to send in plays. Head coach Doug Marrone explained why Monday afternoon.
“We’ve had some helmet to quarterback issues,” said Marrone. “It’s more just technical than it is actually the communications or buttons or anything. We had to switch to the walkie-talkie and out of the button, we’ll do a
better job of that. We do have a backup plan with signals, so it’s not a problem.”
Marrone said as a result they had to repeat a lot of plays during the game due to the communication problems.
On the final drive, Manuel at one point was waving off hand signals on the sidelines because he received the play successfully.
“When he said, ‘I got it, I got it,’ we want to make sure that he’s getting it,” said Marrone. “We have got to clean that technical stuff up.”
