Lost in all the hub bub about the knee injury suffered by EJ Manuel was the lower back injury sustained by Stevie Johnson that forced him from Thursday night’s game as well. Fortunately for Johnson his injury isn’t expected to keep him out of next Sunday’s home game against Cincinnati.
Head coach Doug Marrone had the details on Johnson’s injury.
“Stevie Johnson had a lumbar strain,” said Marrone. “It’s actually already better than expected so I think with the time that we have playing on a Thursday, that I anticipate that he’ll be fine coming up for the following week.”
Johnson appeared to suffer the injury when he tried to throw cornerback Joe Haden past him to gain a release off the line of scrimmage and create separation.
