Bills top receiver Stevie Johnson did not play Sunday, missing his first game in four seasons due to a lower back injury suffered in the Thursday night game at Cleveland. Johnson said after a morning workout Sunday prior to the game he knew he could not go.
“At the end of the day, it wasn’t enough treatment time for myself dealing with the situation and we’ll be back at it (Monday),” said Johnson. “Be in there for treatment (Monday) and be ready to go for Miami.”
“Stevie (Johnson) wasn’t able to go,” said head coach Doug Marrone. “We worked him out before the game and he was just not in good shape. He’s fighting to get back with his lower back.”
Johnson, who has a history of playing hurt, was visibly disappointed that he could not play against the Bengals.
“Very frustrating,” he said. “Not even just because of the score, but missing the game. We’ll be back at it next week.”
When asked if he’s confident about playing in Miami next Sunday he said, “Yeah, definitely.”
