DAILY REPORT
– The Buffalo Bills defeated the Miami Dolphins 23-21 to earn their third victory of the season and their first divisional win on the season. By coming away with the victory at Sun Life Stadium, the Bills also earned their first road victory of the year. The Bills were led by big plays on defense and special teams. On the first drive of the game for the Dolphins, CB Nickell Robey came up with an interception and returned it 19 yards for a touchdown. It was the first career interception and touchdown for Robey, an undrafted rookie from USC. The other big play from the defense was the strip sack by DE Mario Williams with 2:57 remaining in the game and the Bills trailing by one. DT Kyle Williams recovered the fumble on the Miami 34 yard line and the Bills were able to drive down the field for the game winning field goal by K Dan Carpenter. With his two sacks on the day, Mario Williams now has 10.0 on the season, the fourth double-digit sack season of his career. He also has the most sacks through the first seven weeks of a season in Bills history. Carpenter would go 3-for-3 on the day, including the 31-yard game winner, in his first appearance against his former team. Carpenter has now made 15 straight field goals, which is the fourth longest streak in team history. Leading the way offensively for the Bills was QB Thad Lewis who completed 21 of 32 passes for 202 yards and one interception, and RB Fred Jackson who had 85 total yards from scrimmage and one rushing touchdown. QB Ryan Tannehill and WR Brandon Gibson led the Dolphins. Tannehill completed 19 of 37 passes for 194 yards and three touchdowns, but his two interceptions and one fumble helped give Buffalo the advantage. Gibson had five receptions for 40 yards and two touchdowns on the day.

QUOTES OF THE DAY
DOUG MARRONE Buffalo Bills Head Coach
On being able to build off the win…
“I think it was important. We stressed that all the time. A lot of times during the week we talk to the players, or I spoke to the players, about not thinking about consequences. And let’s go out there and play each play. Usually when you start thinking about consequences, things become negative. For some people, we’re trying to correct that. And for our players, we went out there and just played each play and believed in each other. And that’s what happened today. There were times when we go on offense and you don’t get a first down before the end of the half, you give them the ball, they go 75 yards and score. You can look back at it and place blame, but the one thing great about this game is when you play well as a team you have a chance to win. We were able to pick each other up at times today but we’re still not where we need to be consistently.”

On the play of CB Nickell Robey…
“He’s been really close. He’s been getting closer and closer. I’m out there while you guys are saying great play and I’m saying ‘Shoot. It’s about time.’ Because he’s really close. He has very good instincts. There was another play in the game he was close too (to getting an interception) … You’re talking about a guy who was a free agent and earned his way on the team and earned a spot as our nickel and has played well for us.”
