Bills DE Mario Williams has 10 sacks on the season after just seven games. It’s put him on pace to eclipse the NFL’s single-season sack record held by Michael Strahan (22.5 in 2001).
Right now Williams is on pace for about 23 sacks this season. He’s also not alone. As SI.com’s Chris Burke points out Indianapolis pass rusher Robert Mathis is ahead of everybody after seven games with 11.5. Kansas City’s Justin Houston has 10 just like Williams.
So it will come down to who can stay healthy and consistent or really hot over the span of a month or so. Either way it could be an interesting three-horse race to the end of the season.
