He was leaning against playing rookie WR Robert Woods on Monday, now head coach Doug Marrone has made that decision official on Wednesday.
Woods did not practice Wednesday due to a high ankle sprain suffered in Week 9 against Kansas City. He missed last week’s game against Pittsburgh and will not play again this weekend against the Jets.
“I will say this Robert Woods is not going to play. I don’t feel good about that. Robert is not playing,” said Marrone.
The bye week sounds as though it played into Marrone’s decision. Knowing the team’s bye week is next week, it would make sense to rest Woods ankle again this week, knowing it would get rest again next week. That would afford the high ankle sprain a full three weeks off, which should give him a good chance to be ready to return for the Week 13 game against Atlanta in Toronto.
