Bills head coach Doug Marrone has been nominated by the Bills for USAA’s annual Salute to Service award.
USAA is the NFL’s official Military Appreciation sponsor. Coach Marrone was nominated due to his extensive work with Clear Path for Veterans, which provides veterans who have or suspect they may have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) by finding the resources and on-clinical community support they need and deserve.
This past summer, while moving from Syracuse to Buffalo, Coach Marrone spent a day touring the Syracuse VA Medical Center, where he engaged with veterans of various ages and reintegration stages – including those with severe PTSD and mental health struggles.
During his final season at Syracuse, Coach Marrone held part of the team’s fall camp at Fort Drum to demonstrate to his team how the military serve us each day. Now in Buffalo, Doug and his wife Helen continue to hold their annual barbeque for veterans, active duty soldiers and their families and this year hosted veterans at Bills training camp.
The winner will be named during the annual NFL Honors awards show in New York City the day before the Super Bowl.
