Inside The Bills

3rd down, 1st half vs. 2nd half

Posted by Chris Brown on December 4, 2013 – 8:00 am

As we profiled on Buffalobills.com today, there is a stark contrast between the offense’s success rate on third down in the first half of games to their success rate on third down in the second half of games. Below we break down each week with a first half and second half comparison.

For the season the Bills have converted 43.1 percent of their third downs in the first half of games (41-95), which is a solid success rate. In the second half of games however, that number drops to just 27.6% (26-94).

Over the last five games that number is even more dramatic. In the first half the past five weeks, Buffalo has converted 47.3 percent of their third downs (18-38), but just 22.2 percent of their second half third downs (8-36).

Here’s a look at the numbers week by week.
