DAILY REPORT
– The Buffalo Bills defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars 27-20 on Sunday at EverBank Field. The Bills are now 5-9 on the season. The offense was led by rookie QB EJ Manuel and by the running game. Manuel completed 17 of his 24 pass attempts for 193 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.  With his two touchdown passes on the day Manuel now has 11 on the season, which is the new franchise record for touchdown passes by a Bills rookie. Manuel also picked up 37 yards on the ground and scored on a eight yard run in the second quarter that gave the Bills a 17-10 lead. The victory was Manuel’s first career victory on the road. The ground game put up one of their best performances of the season as the team picked up 198 yards for the day and the Manuel touchdown scramble. RB Fred Jackson had 80 yards on 17 attempts and RB C.J. Spiller had 67 yards on 13 attempts. With their totals for the day, Spiller now has 745 yards and Jackson has 725 yards on the season. They are just the second Bills running backs to produce 700-plus rushing yards in a season (OJ Simpson 1,817 & Jim Braxton 823 in 1975). Rookie WR Robert Woods had one the best days of his young career as he hauled in five catches for a career-high 82 yards and a touchdown. The defense was again led by their ability to create turnovers and apply pressure to the quarterback. They recorded five sacks on the day which raises their season total to 49. For the day, rookie CB Nickell Robey, DT Kyle Williams, DT Marcell Dareus, LB Manny Lawson and LB Jerry Hughes all recorded a sack. The Bills now have four players with 8+ sacks (Mario Williams-12.0, Jerry Hughes- 9.0, Kyle Williams- 8.0, Marcell Dareus- 8.0) for the first time since individual sacks became an official statistic in 1982.  On the turnover front, DB Aaron Williams and CB Stephon Gilmore each had interceptions on the day and Nickell Robey notched a fumble recovery.

QUOTE OF THE DAY
DOUG MARRONE, Buffalo Bills Head Coach
On WR Robert Woods’ performance…
“I thought Robert played well. He was targeted six times and had five receptions. I think it’s the same thing. You don’t see the accuracy by the quarterback where he really put it there. You saw Robert and some of the receivers do a nice job with the catch radius. There were able to go out and catch a ball that was here or catch a ball that was there. It wasn’t necessary perfect, but they were able to make those plays.”

EJ MANUEL, Buffalo Bills Quarterback
On the two long touchdown drives…
“I think that’s part of our maturation as an offense especially as young guys in the skill positions – understanding the situations.  I think we converted a lot better on third downs than we did last week.  It was huge for us to keep those drives going.”
