By now everyone knows that Texas A&M offensive tackle Jake Matthews is the son of Hall of Fame OL Bruce Matthews and the cousin of Green Bay pass rusher Clay Matthews. But there is another Matthews family relative at this year’s NFL Combine who is also about to embark on an NFL career.
He’s Notre Dame TE Troy Nicklas.
“I always wanted to play in the NFL, watching my uncle play in the league and seeing him get inducted in the Hall of Fame,” said Nicklas of his uncle Bruce Matthews.
“Jake Matthews and I are cousins,” he said. “His mom and my mom are sisters.”
So it will be two more relatives from the Matthews family to add to the impressive NFL family tree in May not just one.
