Kiko Alonso certainly burst onto the NFL scene in Buffalo as a rookie and earned PFWA Rookie of the Year honors in 2013. What also sprang out of that playmaking ability was a cult following that was wrapped around a catch phrase indicating that Alonso had some special intuition to be omniscient as well as ubiquitous whenever a play needed to be made.
Titled ‘The Legend of Kiko Alonso’ fans on social media ran with it. Every time he made a play, Bills fans would tag their tweets with #TheLegendofKikoAlonso.
It got so big that ESPN’s Kenny Mayne eventually did a feature on the following that surfaced out of nowhere all because of an impressive rookie linebacker who stepped into Buffalo’s starting lineup and performed like a perennial Pro Bowler.
