“If you want to gamble, just go to the Casino. I don’t like going to a sports bar and guys with laptops are out eating appetizers in khaki’s. I don’t know what that is. It doesn’t make sense to me.”

Author Nathan Frederick calls in to talk about his new book “Draft Daze.” The book chronicles the 2012 draft, giving an in-depth look at each player taken that year. Frederick does his research by introducing various personalities associated with the NFL Draft.

“The draft has so many moving parts that you can’t tell that story without talking to an agent or a player. I really wanted to cover it from as many perspectives as possible.”

Frederick explains how the NFL Draft has now developed into a reality TV event with all the uncertainty associated with it. He also says there will be continuing changes to make the draft viewing better, including more integration of social media. “Draft Daze” also includes commentary from analysts Mel Kiper, Jr. and Todd McShay.

Finally, Dr. C. Keith Harrison, Associate Professor at the University of Central Florida discusses his new report dealing with female spectators and influences in the NFL. The report examines the NFL game day experiences for female spectators. Dr. Harrison is the principal investigator and lead researcher on how to better that experience. After collecting data for over 2 years, Dr. Harrison found that 51% of those attending an NFL game are of the female population.

“We don’t know things about women and how they consume, influence, and experience sport because we haven’t asked them.”

The report is available at www.nflplayerengagement.com/
