The Bills have long been handed offensive tackles and wide receivers in 2014 mock drafts. NFL.com’s Pat Kirwan took a different approach.
Kirwan went for Buffalo’s less talked about need of defensive end. With Jerry Hughes entering the final year of his contract, the Bills may need to have another option opposite Mario Williams unless they can get an extension completed with Hughes, who burst onto the Buffalo scene with 10 sacks last season after the trade with Indianapolis. Here was Kirwan’s take on the Bills pick at nine.
9. Buffalo Bills – Khalil Mack, DE/OLB, Buffalo: Doug Marrone knows the value of a 10-year starter at left tackle but with Matthews gone the local pass rusher is a solid option. They may consider Taylor Lewan instead.
Kirwan has had Lewan as his pick for the Bills for a while and he had Jake Matthews going to Atlanta at six in his mock draft.
