McShay plays GM for Bills

ESPN NFL draft analyst Todd McShay took a different approach to his latest mock draft. Instead of making picks as he believes each of the club’s GMs would, he played GM for each club and predicted more of what he thinks each team should do. Here’s where he thought the Bills were headed at ninth overall.

McShay had the top two receivers (Sammy Watkins, Mike Evans) and the top three tackles (Greg Robinson, Jake Matthews, Taylor Lewan) all off the board before Buffalo was on the clock. So with that in mind here’s who he took for Buffalo at nine.

9. Buffalo Bills: Eric Ebron, TE, North Carolina

The Bills need offensive line help, but there aren’t any good values in this scenario, and I really think they need to add another pass-catcher to help second-year QBEJ Manuel. Ebron is a playmaker after the catch and as a seam-stretching vertical threat because of his outstanding movement skills and very good top-end speed. He also has the versatility to line up in-line, flexed out in the slot or split out wide. Ebron is the 10th-ranked prospect on my board, so he makes sense in terms of value, too.

If this is how the board falls, Ebron is one of the only truly elite prospects left at this point, so such a pick would be far from a shock in light of what was taken off the board in front of Buffalo.
