The deadline to pick up the fifth-year option on Marcell Dareus’ rookie contract was fast approaching, and the Bills not surprisingly have acted. According to ESPN NFL reporter Adam Schefter the club has picked up the fifth-year option on Dareus meaning he’ll be under contract through the 2015 season.

Buffalo had until May 3rd to do so. If confirmed by the club Dareus will be paid equivalent to the transition tag at his defensive tackle position in 2015, or top 10 money in the league at his position. The figure for 2014 is currently $9.65M.
