Bills top pick Sammy Watkins met another former Bills first round pick this past week in Hall of Famer Jim Kelly. In meeting Kelly Watkins knows what the former QB is dealing with, but said Kelly is in good spirits.
Appearing on NFL Total Access Thursday night Watkins was asked about his meeting with Kelly and how he was doing.
“He’s a great guy,” Watkins said. “I wasn’t around during the time he was playing. I was there for Drew Bledsoe and those great wide receivers they had, Eric Moulds and Peerless Price. They were really good around that time. When you were a young kid, you could throw deep routes all day with them.
“Just being with Jim [Kelly] and going to meet him was a pleasure, just to see how strong of a man he is, how much he has worked to get out of the hole he is in. He was all smiles, jokes and giggles. Everybody looks at him as he is sick and down, but he is doing great now, and he is out of the hospital, and he’s having fun.”
