In a post on her online journal, Jill Kelly provided a thorough update on Jim’s progress. Having finished his extensive chemo and radiation treatments on May 28, Jim now begins follow up visits to check in on his strength and the state of his cancer.
Jill noted that he lost 44 pounds since the start of this second bout with cancer, and has remained on a feeding tube for all nourishment.
“We are considering another type of therapy in the interim between the last treatment Jim had, and the scans that are scheduled two to three months up the road,” wrote Jill. “However, we are still gathering information and haven’t made a decision about that yet.”
She noted that the family is looking into alternative and homeopathic techniques to strengthen Jim’s immune system.
“He is still very weak, extremely tired, and he’s not himself — but he’s still “Kelly Tough,” focused on God and the goal line, and victory. He always has and always will persevere and fight the good fight.”
It’s been a tough go for the Kelly family, Jill said, but they are encouraged and hopeful, taking it one day at a time.
