What Robey said to Whaley & Terry Pegula

When you’re an undrafted rookie, as Nickell Robey was in 2013, you take nothing for granted in the NFL… ever. That’s why the third-year cornerback was so appreciative to reach an agreement on his second NFL contract with Buffalo Sunday. And Robey made sure to speak personally with GM Doug Whaley and owner Terry Pegula when it appeared his extension was complete.

“Saturday I talked to Doug (Whaley) and I thanked him for the opportunity,” Robey told Buffalobills.com. “I talked to Terry Pegula and thanked him for the opportunity to continue to come out here and continue showcase my talent.

“I just feel so wonderful inside for the opportunity to come out here for another few years and (play). I haven’t even told my family yet (about my extension). The only person who really knows is my brother right now. We’ve kept it (quiet) and just tried to move forward with the situation knowing that the Bills organization… they care obviously re-signing me.”

Robey is most excited to continue playing in a secondary with players he’s worked with the last two seasons.

“It’s very exciting. Saturday at the scrimmage there was a lot of intensity out there,” he said. “I felt good playing with my teammates. We all are clicking on the same page right now. I just can’t wait until the season unfolds. I’m excited.”
