With time running out for the Bills to negotiate a long term contract extension for OT Cordy Glenn reports are now surfacing that Buffalo will utilize the franchise tag on their left tackle to keep him off the free agent market.
NFL.com’s Jason Gold is reporting that the Bills are expected to make use of the tag on Glenn prior to the March 1st deadline this coming Tuesday.
Glenn is set to become a free agent, but the Bills labeled the left tackle a top priority to return to the fold this offseason.
The franchise tag amount for offensive linemen in 2015 was $12.94M. The 2016 franchise tag figures are expected to be released soon. Some estimates for offensive linemen have been projected in excess of $14 million.
