Kobe Bryant takes the court for the last time as an NBA player tonight in L.A. A Bills player that has seen a number of his games in person and can call the Philadelphia native a friend is Bills RB LeSean McCoy.
McCoy even took a bold stance on where he ranks Bryant among the all-time greats some time ago in a tweet when he put Kobe ahead of Michael Jordan. He was asked about that uncommon ranking in an interview with The Complex while still a member of the Philadelphia Eagles. Here was his response.
“MJ is probably the hardest one to put him over, but Kobe Bryant is the guy,” said McCoy. “In his prime he could score from anywhere. Defensively he always stuck the best player. He has that winning attitude. I like Kobe, I like the way he approaches the game. He’s a warrior. He’s got that killer instinct, that Mamba blood. You try to take that to the football field. Kobe’s the best, man. If he’s not better than Jordan he’s the closest one.”
The Bills running back even recently reiterated his belief that Bryant is the greatest basketball player of all time.

McCoy even received an autographed pair of Kobe’s sneakers on March 6, 2016 when the Lakers beat the Warriors 112-95, which he posted on his Instagram account.
Bryant, who grew up an Eagles fan, became friends with McCoy through his affinity for his hometown football team.
