Bills GM Doug Whaley is immersed in draft preparations with it sitting just a week away on the calendar. But it hasn’t kept him from staying abreast of where things sit with two key players on their roster. Cordy Glenn has signed his franchise tender and Stephon Gilmore is in the last year of his rookie deal after Buffalo picked up his fifth-year option. The next step is getting the two players locked up with long term extensions.
When that will happen is anyone’s guess, but Whaley in an appearance on Bills flagship station WGR Sportsradio 550 feels the Glenn and Gilmore camps have a mutual understanding with the Bills.
“I look at it this way. I’m more optimistic than pessimistic,” said Whaley. “We have until July 15th with Cordy, we have until whenever with Stephon, but I’m more optimistic than pessimistic. We all start with the same viewpoint that we want to get a deal done so we’re on the same page there.”
