Signing Gilmore & Taylor to extensions feasible

The Bills have methodically taken care of some of the more important expiring contracts on their roster this offseason. Richie Incognito and Cordy Glenn are the two primary examples. Next up is considered to be Stephon Gilmore and Tyrod Taylor. Some outside observers wonder if Buffalo has enough cap room to lock up both long term. One expert says yes.

In an appearance on the John Murphy Show, Corry explained why signing both Taylor and Gilmore to long term extensions is not going to be impacted by the cap space Buffalo has at their disposal.

“It’s easily do-able because Gilmore can create his own cap room from his fifth-year option of slightly over $11 million. In the extension you could convert a significant portion of that into signing bonus, so you would lower his cap number as well. So you would create some cap room with an extension. Since you have $12 million in cap room already you could structure a deal where you can get Taylor done as well,” said CBSSports.com’s NFL salary cap analyst Joel Corry. “Cap room won’t be an issue.”
