If Richie Incognito had his way he’d be on the practice field for every single rep the first team offense has. However, that’s not how Rex Ryan and his coaching staff are approaching this training camp with their top veteran players. They’re pacing their starters who’ve had time in the league like LeSean McCoy, Charles Clay and a couple of offensive linemen in Eric Wood and Incognito.
Incognito would prefer not to because it’s just not how he’s wired, but he understands the aim of the approach.
“Yeah, it’s one of those things where, you know, we’ve got a ton of reps in this offense,” Incognito said. “And, you know, the coaches are being deliberate with our reps right now, you know, keeping our pitch count right now a little low, and we’re going to build. But, you know, there’s a method to their madness and I believe in the coaches and the training staff and I’m going to follow what they say.”
