The Buffalo Bills are once again proudly partnering with ADPRO Sports in 2016, to recognize some of the best high school football coaches Western New York has to offer through the High School Coach of the Week program.
The Buffalo Region Coach of the Week for Week 2 is Mike Alessi, head coach of the Eden/North Collins Raiders. After low numbers caused the Eden Raiders to miss the 2015 season, Eden/North Collins is back and ready to compete. After coming off a short week, the Raiders took on the Chautauqua Lake Thunderbirds on the road on Tuesday, September 6. The Raiders came away with a 21-15 victory over the Thunderbirds to propel the team to 1-1 on the season. Senior running back Owen Krouse led the team on the ground, putting up 122 yards rushing for 3 touchdowns.
The Rochester Region Coach of the Week for Week 2 is Jeff Welch, head coach of Canandaigua Academy. On Saturday, September 10 Canandaigua hosted the West Irondequoit Eagles for a league matchup. Canandaigua proved dominant in the game, defeating the Eagles 42-21. Led by quarterback Tanner Cooper, Canandaigua put together a fierce aerial attack, which included four big plays of 55 yards or more. The win keeps Canandaigua undefeated at 2-0.
Check back on Buffalobills.com each week for the announcement of the Coach of the Week winners and tune in to the John Murphy show each Wednesday afternoon to hear the winners announced on the show. All Coach of the Week winners will receive $1,000 for their high school football program and will be recognized on-field prior to the Bills vs. Browns game on December 18. Good luck to all of the high school football coaches this season from the Buffalo Bills and ADPRO Sports!
