QUOTE OF THE DAY
CEO Russ Brandon
On being able to rekindle the rivalry between the Miami Dolphins in Primetime on Thursday night (via WGR 550 4/18/12):
“When you looked at it from our standpoint, Thursday night game in Primetime, we all know what it was like in the building for the Dallas Monday Night game a few years back, but it’s extra special to play the Dolphins at night, play them here on a Thursday. I think the market’s going to really respond and I also think Friday the 16th will be a very nonproductive day in town for sure.”
PHOTO OF THE DAY

September 17, 1984 was the last time the Bills hosted the Miami Dolphins at home for a primetime game. The two teams will face each other again in primetime at Ralph Wilson Stadium on Thursday, November 15th.

QUOTE OF THE DAY
CEO Russ Brandon
On his motivation to do right by the franchise and for its fans (via the Buffalo News 4/15/12):
“It’s a tremendous responsibility, and it certainly has caused many sleepless nights from the standpoint of how much it means to this community, how much it means to this region,” Brandon said of his drive to make the Bills succeed. “But the one thing this region offers that is limitless is passion. It’s the Niagara Falls of passion. It just keeps rolling. That’s the one thing we don’t have to manufacture, the unbridled passion the people have for this franchise and the connectivity that the franchise has to its legion of fans. Jokingly, I often say the greatest thing about the job is the passion the people have for the Bills, and the worst thing about the job is the passion the people have for the Bills.”

QUOTE OF THE DAY
Bills CEO Russ Brandon
On it being an exciting time for the city of Buffalo and in the building from last season and wanting to protect this team and get more weapons (via SiriusXM NFL Radio on April 12th):
“It really was highlighted last year in the first part of the season with the Oakland game, New England, and Philly; having that 12th man at Ralph Wilson Stadium. The buzz with the whole entire region. It really was energizing. Obviously we had a tough second half to the year. Even coming out of that I think everyone feels really good about where the franchise is headed coupled with the free agent signing of Mario and Mark Anderson and re-signing Stevie Johnson. That was really what kicked off our free agent period. It was met very positively in the market and that has translated into people being very excited about what’s coming up.”

On DE Mario Williams and if there’s any pressure on him:
“He gets it,” Nix told Buffalobills.com. “He’s got his head screwed on right. It doesn’t bother him. He doesn’t want to be looked at as the savior. He wants to play good and he wants to make everyone around him better. Pressure doesn’t matter to him and it doesn’t matter to me. - An exclusive “meet and greet” with the top draft pick
- A private tour of the Buffalo Bills facilities
- An autographed Buffalo Bills helmet
QUOTE OF THE DAY
NFL Network analyst and former NFL GM Charley Casserly
On the impact DE Mario Williams will have on the defense:
“First of all you’ll get great effort. You’ll get 100-percent out of him. That isn’t going to be an issue,” Casserly told Buffalobills.com. “Teams are going to build their offensive blocking schemes around him so that should free up opportunities for other players. I think he’s going to play hard and he can play the run well, which was a major problem with the Bills, stopping people running the football. They’ve got to stop the run.”

On DE Mark Anderson:
“He’s definitely a high motor guy,” Williams told Buffalobills.com. “He’s deceiving. You look at him and he’s not as big as your typical defensive end and he knows how to use leverage and his quickness to get around guys. That was the biggest thing. When I would watch him in one-on-ones, especially during third down situations he was able to make things happen with his quickness and being elusive.”

The Bills design aesthetic will stay true to years past while updating the color-blocking in the neckline in order to accommodate the Nike Flywire technology to reduce weight and provide a lockdown fit over the pads. Designed and engineered from the inside out, the new uniform focuses on creating a system where the baselayer, padding, jersey and pant work in concert. A few of the new innovations include increasing sleeve articulation for better range of motion and integrating new four-way stretch fabrication to provide a streamlined shrink-wrap fit.” Click here to see more Bills uniform facts from Nikeinc.com>>>

On being a part of the Nike uniform unveiling (via Bills Focus on Buffalobills.com):

You see that through the technology and the work that Nike’s been putting into these uniforms. I believe they’ve been working on them for about five years now. There’s been a lot of work going on behind-the-scenes at Nike and the NFL to make today happen.”

Head Coach Chan Gailey
On where Mario Williams will lineup defensively (via SiriusXM NFL Radio on March 27th):
“Nothing is set in concrete on who is going to play where. We’re going to look at a lot of different scenarios there and put guys in position where they can be the most successful they can be. Now (Mario) feels a lot better and a lot more comfortable on the left side. If he is on the left side, it’s not like we’re bad on the other side. There are some advantages people sometimes don’t think about when you have a pass rusher coming from the defensive left.”

QUOTES OF THE DAY
Head Coach Chan Gailey
On Dave Wannstedt’s impact on the Bills defense this season (via SiriusXM NFL Radio on March 27th):
“I think we are going to be very exciting on defense. Dave Wannstedt brings an edginess and excitement to the defensive meeting room. I’m looking forward to it. I think he will do a great job in there and his wealth of experience is just super.”
On the play of Nick Barnett last season (via John Kryk of the Toronto Sun on March 27th):
“Nick Barnett played extremely well. If we’d have won more football games, he probably would have been in the Pro Bowl, because his statistics matched up with a bunch of the guys that went to the Pro Bowl. He got his feet wet, so to speak, in Buffalo. And I think this year he’ll have a better year, maybe, than he did last year. And last year was extremely good. And he’ll feel a lot more comfortable about a lot of things this year.”

BDC 3/27 – Draft Order Determined
Posted by billsdailycharge on March 27, 2012 – 9:04 am
DAILY REPORT
–A total of 32 compensatory choices in the 2012 NFL Draft have been awarded to 15 teams, the NFL announced yesterday. The Buffalo Bills were awarded the 44th pick (251st overall) in the seventh round. Under the rules for compensatory draft selections, a team losing more or better compensatory free agents than it acquires in the previous year is eligible to receive compensatory draft picks.
–The Bills 10 draft choice order for the 2012 NFL Draft is:
1st round – #10
2nd round – #41 (9th in round)
3rd round – #71 (8th in round)
4th round – #105 & #124 (10th and 29th in round)
5th round – #144 & #147 (9th and 12th in round)
6th round – #178 (8th in round)
7th round – #217 & #251 (10th and 44th in round)
QUOTES OF THE DAY
GM Buddy Nix
On how an improved pass rush can help the secondary (via SiriusXM NFL Radio on March 26):
“I don’t care if you’re an average quarterback in this league, if you let him stay on rhythm and set his feet, he’ll pick you apart. You have to make that guy move and throw off balance. If our front four can do that then all the sudden our corners and safeties get a lot better.”
Peter King – Sports Illustrated.com NFL Columnist
On his top 10 free agent moves he’s liked the most so far:
“No. 4: DE Mark Anderson from New England to Buffalo. The Bills’ defensive line has a tremendously improved look right now. Keep in mind new defensive coordinator Dave Wannstedt will switch to a 4-3. He’ll have Mario Williams at left end and Anderson and Chris Kelsay (and maybe a draft choice) playing the right side, with Kyle Williams, Marcell Dareus and Torell Troup in the middle. That’s the best line in the AFC East.” Click here for the full story>>>

On joining a defensive line that already has a lot of proven talent on hand:
“My whole motto is to go hard,” Anderson told Buffalobills.com. “Whenever you get the opportunity you’ve got to make plays and make the most of your opportunities. If I’m fortunate enough to have the opportunity to play more I’m going to try to make every play when I’m out on the field. That’s one of the things I harp on. On what Bills players he talked to during his visit:
“I talked to Mario (Williams). He and I have a pretty good relationship. And I talked to Nick Barnett as well. I’ve met him over the years and I’ve been watching him play as well. Those are the only two guys mainly. Just watching film when I was with other teams and we were watching everybody, going against other teams, I’ve seen everything that they (Bills) were doing and I just want to be a part of that. I felt like it’s something that I want to be a part of. Everybody works hard and that’s something that I pride myself on.”
DT Kyle Williams
On his impressions of how the off season is going so far for Buffalo and how things look for the future:
“I think with Buddy Nix and Coach Gailey and Coach Wannstedt; they’ve gone on and identified spots where they’ve felt like we needed to get better. Moving into a new defense, add some top level talent, add some depth and do some different things. I think it’s all about winning I think that’s all you can say about it. I think it’s all about winning at this point and those guys are going to help us do it.”
