QUOTE OF THE DAY
Fred Jackson, Buffalo Bills Running Back on Sirius XM NFL Radio
On adjusting to being an older running back:
“Coach Wheatley is a guy that I learned from. He was known for his speed. He said when he lost a step, he transitioned his game and added weight to be able to take on blockers and tacklers when he couldn’t outrun them. You definitely transition into different areas and facets of your game to be able to play. I added a little bit of weight. I never was the fastest guy, but when you do lose a step so to speak, you have to be able to take advantage of other parts of the game. I’ve always prided myself on being a physical running back, and I have to be now more than ever.

QUOTE OF THE DAY
Chris Hogan, Buffalo Bills Wide Receiver on the John Murphy Show
Q: What workouts do you do in the offseason and when do you start them?
A: The season can be pretty long and takes a toll on your body so you take a couple weeks off. I’m not the type of guy that likes to sit around on the couch all day and do nothing, so I got right back in to it. Just staying in shape and making sure that I’m ready to go come next week (for offseason workouts).

So many people grow up in these big cities and they don’t get to experience that sense of community that I’m blessed with. It’s absolutely amazing…I try to bring that to where I am. When I was at Pittsburgh (with the Steelers) and now that I’m with the (Buffalo) Bills, I always try to bring everyone together and have big dinners with everyone involved like the people of West Virginia do.”

DAILY REPORT
– A celebration and remembrance of the life and legacy of Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. was held in the Buffalo Bills Fieldhouse on Saturday for fans across the region.  The celebration and remembrance featured memorabilia, exhibits, and a guestbook for fans to share their respects and pay tribute to Hall of Fame Owner, Ralph C. Wilson, Jr.  In case you missed it, click here to check out some of the highlights from the day.

A celebration and remembrance of the life and legacy of Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. was held in the Buffalo Bills Fieldhouse Saturday afternoon.

QUOTE OF THE DAY
Mary Wilson, Buffalo Bills Controlling Owner
On the celebration and remembrance of the life and legacy of Ralph. C. Wilson, Jr.:
“I want to take this opportunity to thank Bills fans and people everywhere for their tremendous outpouring of love for Ralph. Their heartfelt condolences and warm wishes have truly been a comfort for me, Ralph’s daughters Christy and Dee Dee, Mary Owen and the entire Wilson family during this difficult time.

“Ralph loved his life and he had a great full life that touched so many people in a variety of ways. He loved his family and his many friends. He loved his Buffalo Bills and he loved the fans. Before he passed, he told me that he wanted people to celebrate his life after he was gone. He wasn’t big on tears. And so that’s why we are referring to events such as the one today as “celebrating” the life of Ralph Wilson.

“This man accomplished so many things during his time and most of them have been well documented in the past couple of weeks. But the one thing that everyone has mentioned in their kind words was his sense of humor and that certainly was one of his most endearing qualities. Ralph most likely would have offered a funny quip about today’s event. But at the same time, he would have been profoundly touched by the fans outpouring of emotion.”

QUOTE OF THE DAY
Danny Crossman, Buffalo Bills Special Teams Coordinator on the John Murphy Show
Q: When the offseason began, Coach Marrone talked about the need for developing and adding core special teamers. Tell about your thoughts on that and what you thought you may have lacked.
A: I think what happened was that anytime you’re new, you’re trying to develop and identify those guys on your own roster because you really don’t know what you have. You look around the league and a lot of the successful franchises in terms of the kicking game, year in and year out have a core nucleus of three or four or five guys that are predominantly three or four phase guys and then you sprinkle in some backups and you sprinkle in some starters and you’ve got a core group.

Bills President and CEO Russ Brandon speaks to the media after the conclusion of the first meeting with the New Stadium Working Group yesterday.

QUOTE OF THE DAY
Russ Brandon, Buffalo Bills President and CEO
On the first New Stadium Working Group meeting:
“We had a very productive discussion, went through a variety of materials today and spent a lot of time basically educating everyone that’s on the committee on the past leases and updating on the renovations that are currently taking place. Really setting the agenda and the framework for our group moving forward. This is an advisory group formed by the Bills, the county and the state in the lease that was finalized in December of 2012 and we look forward to working with our constituents moving forward and looking at the possibilities of either a new stadium moving forward or a retrofit renovation to Ralph Wilson Stadium as we head in to the future. This will be a process, it will be a long process, and we have a lot of work that needs to be done, but I know that our group is up for the task and we look forward to working with everyone in the future.”

QUOTES OF THE DAY
Russ Brandon, Buffalo Bills President and CEO
On everything Mr. Wilson has done:
“Unbelievable what he has accomplished. Such an unbelievable day when he put on the yellow jacket and went into the Hall of Fame. I always said the only two things I wanted to see was Mr. Wilson put on that yellow jacket and hand him the Lombardi trophy. We’re still working on the second part obviously, but it is fitting that he is in the Hall of Fame for all of that he’s done for this organization, for this league and all he has meant to Western New York and the community.”

Doug Marrone, Buffalo Bills Head Coach
On practicing against the Pittsburgh Steelers during training camp:
“It’s something that I’ve done before, it’s something that I truly like, I truly believe in it. We are looking for certain things and things that Coach Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers bring to the table that would help us.  I think there are things we can do that help them prepare for the season. We’ve talked about the schedule of what we’re going to do, when we practice together.  I think it could be a very good working relationship for both teams.”

QUOTE OF THE DAY
Will Wolford, Former Buffalo Bills Left Tackle on the John Murphy Show
Q: Do you see the gap narrowing in terms of talents between left tackle and right tackle?
A: I’m not really sure. It seems to me that left tackles are still a little bit more athletic and they’re probably going to take on the more athletic pass rusher. Right tackles can be a much bigger, strong player. It seems that most teams in their running attack are still more right handed than left handed as far as which side of the ball they’re going to hit first. I think people try to be as balanced as possible and maybe with a lot of self-scouting they make sure their run-pass is 50% and their run left-right is 50% and their run inside-outside is 50%. Maybe they are trying to balance things up, which would bode with your theory, but it sure seems to me that most right tackles are still bigger stronger guys and left tackles are probably a little bit mope athletic because of the players they’re going to face.

QUOTE OF THE DAY
Andre Reed, Hall of Fame Buffalo Bills Wide Receiver
On visiting the Pro Football Hall of Fame:
“It was amazing to see all of these artifacts and what the game is all about. It brings me back to when I was a kid and first put a helmet on. This really puts things into perspective on what the game means and how it’s portrayed not only to society, but each individual that’s ever played the game.  It’s a kid’s game but you get so much out of it in life. It’s molded me into the person I am today.”

QUOTE OF THE DAY
Corey Graham, Buffalo Bills Cornerback with WGR 550
On growing up a Bills fan and going to Bills games as a kid:
“I went to a lot of games. I used to go to games all the time. I would say we would probably go to four home games a season. I enjoyed watching the team and it was my way of getting away. That’s how I got into football. So I really enjoyed it. I was a big-time Buffalo Bills fan and my whole family’s Bills fans so to them this is like the icing on the cake to have me coming to play for Buffalo.”

QUOTE OF THE DAY
Brandon Spikes, Buffalo Bills Linebacker
Q: What did former Bills LB Takeo Spikes tell you about playing here in Buffalo?
A: He just told me there is no other fan base like it. I love that about it, I love a place with a lot of tradition. I just remember being a little boy and watching Thurman Thomas and (Jim) Kelly. I just want to bring that back, it’s been a long time and I want to bring that type of mentality and that mindset and toughness. That old school ball, that just relentless effort. The fans, I always appreciate them. From what I hear it reminds me of the old Florida Gators days. The fans there are such passionate fans and it definitely helped me play hard and with an edge. I appreciate that.

Anthony Dixon, Buffalo Bills Running Back
Q: Do you feel you can fill a role in short yardage situations?
A: Yeah I consider myself as an all-around football player. I can do anything asked of me in the backfield. I can play multiple positions, whatever coach asks me to do I can do. I’m just looking to come in and show them what I can do and then it’s up to them where they put me.
