The Section V Coach of the Week for week 11 of the 2015 high school football season is Chris Battaglia head coach of the Aquinas Institute Little Irish Football Team.  The Little Irish defeated the Section VI Orchard Park Quakers by a score of 42-7 to maintain a perfect record of 11-0 and advance to the Class AA State Semifinals.  Aquinas will face Section III champion Liverpool this Saturday in Syracuse.

Against Orchard Park, Aquinas quarterback Jake Zembiec led the Little Irish offense, passing for 230 yards and four touchdowns.  Wide receivers Jamir Jones and Earnest Edwards were strong contributors to the win catching six passes for 78 yards and a touchdown and three passes for 81 yards and two touchdowns respectively.

Jones also provided a solid performance for the Aquinas defense accounting for 8 tackles and an interception.

Section V Coach of the Week – Week 7 & 8

The Section V Coaches of the Week for week seven and week eight of the 2015 high school football season are Coach Rob Cerone of the Greece Athena Trojans (week 7) and Coach Joe Montesano of the Rush-Henrietta Royal Comets (week 8).

In week 7, the Greece Athena Trojans defeated the Brockport Blue Devils by a score of 21-12, handing the Blue Devils their first loss of the season. Tavon Granison threw for 144 yards and a touchdown and added 68 yards rushing and two touchdowns for the Trojans. On the defensive side of the ball, Vince Soeffing added nine tackles, a sack and an interception.

In week 8, the Rush-Henrietta Royal Comets defeated the Pittsford Panthers by a score of 35-28 avenging a loss earlier in the season. The win advanced the Royal Comets to the Section V Class AA Semifinals.

Reggie Robinson scored on a 13-yard touchdown run with less than a minute remaining on October 23rd, which gave the Royal Comets a 35-28 win over the previously undefeated Panthers. Jared Gerbino led Rush-Henrietta with 222 yards passing, 2 touchdowns and 64 yards rushing. Steven Clark added 14 tackles on defense.

Section V Coach of the Week – Dennis Greco

The Section V Coach of the Week for week two of the 2015 season is Dennis Greco, Head Coach of the East Rochester/Gananda Bombers.  The Bombers defeated the Geneva Panthers by a score of 31-22 at Loman Field in Geneva.

East Rochester/Gananda was led by Cameron Cleveland who compiled 169 yards rushing and scored all four of the Bombers touchdowns. Cleveland also caught three passes for 63 yards, converted a pair of two point conversions and intercepted a pass at the end of the fourth quarter to seal the Bombers victory.

Congratulations to Coach Greco from the Buffalo Bills and ADPRO Sports on being named the Section V Coach of the Week, and good luck on the rest of the season to the East Rochester/Gananda Bombers!

High School Coach of the Week – Chad Green

The Buffalo Bills are proudly partnering with ADPRO Sports in 2015, to recognize some of the best high school football coaches Western New York has to offer through the High School Coach of the Week program.  Throughout the 2015 high school football season the Bills and ADPRO will recognize 11 coaches of the week from both the Buffalo (Section VI) and Rochester/Finger Lakes (Section V) regions on buffalobills.com.  The winners will be selected by a committee of high school football experts from each region.

Winning coaches will receive a $1,000 grant for their school’s football program, a framed certificate signed by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, Bills President and Managing Partner Russ Brandon, General Manager Doug Whaley, and Head Coach Rex Ryan recognizing their accomplishment, and an invitation to join the Bills on-field December 27th for a pregame ceremony prior to kickoff against the Dallas Cowboys. At the game, a High School Coach of the Year will be honored from each section, with those winners receiving an additional $1,000 grant for their football program.

The Section V Coach of the Week for week one of the 2015 season is Chad Green, head coach of the East Irondequoit-Eastridge Lancers.  The Lancers defeated their  rival the Irondequoit Eagles by a score of 33-17 avenging last year’s loss in the Section V Class A tournament semifinals.  The Lancers were led on offense by running back Curtis June’s 2 touchdowns which included a 74 yard scoring run and an interception return for a touchdown with less than 4 minutes remaining by Rayshauid Smith.  Congratulations to Coach Green and the Eastridge Lancers on a great start to the season.

Sunday’s gameday giveaways

Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots has a 1:00 p.m. kickoff. Fans through the gates will receive a commemorative t-shirt and an ECMC and ADPRO Sports Billieve Yowie® rallywear.  Other pregame festivities include Stampede performance at 12:30 p.m., a special pregame ceremony at 12:40 p.m. and Buffalo’s own Johnny Rzeznik of the Goo Goo Dolls singing the National Anthem.

Fans are encouraged to get to their seats early to enjoy all of the pregame events.
